The Sealed Room ("we", "us", "our") operates the website at thesealedroom.com and the online membership offered on it (together, the "Service"). The Service consists of a free interactive experience and a paid subscription that provides access to lessons, including Character Rebirth and further programmes ("Pillars"), and related member features. The Service is delivered entirely online. There is no physical product.
By creating an account, starting a subscription or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms") and to our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy, which form part of these Terms.
You must be at least 18 years old to purchase a subscription. If you are under 18, you may use the Service only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian, who must agree to these Terms on your behalf and who is responsible for any purchase. The Service is not directed at children under 13.
You must provide a valid email address that you control and confirm it before purchasing. You are responsible for keeping your login details confidential and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission. You stay signed in on a device until you sign out, unless you untick “keep me signed in on this device” when you sign in; then the session on that device ends after 30 minutes of inactivity. Do not stay signed in on a device other people use.
Prices are stated in US dollars. Where we are required by law to collect sales tax, VAT or a similar tax on digital services, it is calculated and added at checkout and shown before you pay. You are responsible for any other taxes that apply to your purchase in your jurisdiction.
Your first payment is covered by a 7-day money-back guarantee, as set out in our Refund Policy. Renewal payments are not refundable except where required by law or as stated in that policy.
If you are a consumer in the European Union, the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you would normally have a 14-day right to withdraw from a distance contract. Because the Service is digital content supplied immediately after payment, before you pay we ask you to request immediate access and to acknowledge that you lose the right of withdrawal once access begins. We keep a record of that acknowledgement with your order. Our 7-day money-back guarantee on your first payment applies in addition to, and does not depend on, that statutory right.
All lessons, text, images, audio, software and other material in the Service are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws. While your subscription is active, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the paid content for your own non-commercial use. You may not copy, publish, share, sell, resell or otherwise distribute any part of it, or give anyone else access to your account. Access to paid content ends when your subscription ends.
The membership includes an AI you can talk to, called the Keeper, and an AI interview on the last stair that helps you design your character. Their replies are generated automatically by a third-party AI model. You are talking to an AI, not a person. A line saying so sits under the message box in every conversation, the whole time it is open, and the Keeper’s rules are kept in your profile. Replies may be inaccurate, incomplete or wrong for your situation. The Keeper is not a therapist, counsellor, doctor or other professional and does not provide therapy or treatment, so do not rely on it for medical, psychological, legal or financial decisions. It may not be suitable for some people under 18.
The Keeper keeps your conversations and a short list of facts you tell it, so it can remember you between visits. You can read and delete them at any time, as described in the Privacy Policy.
Our safety protocol. If you say plainly that you intend to kill or hurt yourself or someone else, or that you are in danger, the Keeper is instructed to stop coaching at once and point you to help from a real person: call or text 988 in the United States and Canada, or your local emergency number elsewhere. A bad day, a relapse or feeling low is treated as a normal part of the work, and the Keeper keeps talking with you as usual. Separately, our server recognises common words and phrases about suicide and self-harm and adds one to a daily count each time. The count is a number only, with no words and no account attached, and we keep it so we can report it where the law requires. No automated check catches everything: if you are in danger, contact emergency services or a crisis line directly.
Usage limits apply and may change. We may suspend the feature, or your access to it, at any time, including where it is used in an attempt to generate harmful content.
Members can send us messages inside the Service. We read and may reply to them. Please do not send passwords, payment details or highly sensitive personal information. We may delete messages that are abusive or that breach these Terms.
The Service provides educational and self-improvement content based in part on personal experience. It is not therapy, medical treatment, addiction treatment or a mental-health service, and it is not a substitute for advice from a qualified professional. If you are in crisis or at risk of harm, contact your local emergency number or a crisis line immediately.
We do not promise or guarantee any particular outcome from using the Service, including any change in habits, health, appearance, productivity, income or wealth. Personal stories and examples on our website describe individual experiences and are not typical or guaranteed results. Your results depend on many factors outside our control, including your own effort and circumstances.
You agree not to: interfere with or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, its systems or other users' accounts; scrape, copy or resell the Service or its content; misuse the payment system or file a fraudulent chargeback; or use the Service for any unlawful purpose. We may suspend or close accounts that do.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service and all content are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, and any warranty that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising out of or relating to the Service. Our total liability for all claims arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or under mandatory consumer-protection laws.
Informal resolution. Before starting any formal proceeding, please contact us at the address in section 18 with a description of your concern. We will try to resolve it within 30 days.
Users in the United States: individual arbitration. Any dispute not resolved informally will be resolved by binding arbitration on an individual basis, administered by a recognised arbitration provider under its consumer arbitration rules, except that either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court. You and we each waive the right to a jury trial and to participate in a class, collective or representative action. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement within 30 days of first accepting these Terms by emailing us with the subject line "Arbitration Opt-Out" from the email address on your account.
Users outside the United States. You may bring proceedings in the courts of the country where you live, and you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of that country.
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date shows the current version. If we make a material change, including to price, billing or your rights, we will notify you by email or on the Service before it takes effect and ask you to accept the updated Terms. If you do not accept a change, you may cancel before it applies.
